Introductory course
eELV training course summary
The course is written specifically for ATFs by an electrically qualified, experienced and vehicle manufacturer trained engineer (who also delivers the course). The one day theory course usually takes around 6-8 hours and is an interactive day, covering all of the different types of EVs currently in the UK vehicle parc, including pure battery electric vehicles and all forms of hybrid electric vehicles. It sets out the risks involved in handling and making safe eELV ready for depollution, and demonstrates the correct processes, plant and equipment needed to safely isolate, disconnect, test and remove the battery from the vehicle, and covers key areas such as a general EV overview, EV specific health & safety, EV resources and information and a step-by-step walk through of how to receive, assess, isolate and handle an EV at end of life. This is all supported by videos and demonstrations, and options for resale or disposal of the battery and other components are discussed, including safe storage, transport and second life markets and candidates will receive a reference pack to keep on completion.
